    Film by Akira Kurosawa

Golden age of Japanese cinema. Japan. In Japanese.

Farmers hire seven masterless samurai to defend their village against bandits.

    What it handed down

    To Conan the Barbarian (1982)

    Stylistic influence, probable.

Milius often spoke of Kurosawa as a model. The battle at the Mounds, where a handful of fighters prepares traps and stakes against a larger mounted force, follows the village-defense design of Seven Samurai, and the opening raid of horsemen on a village in the snow recalls the bandit attacks.
